PROJECT CATEGORIES
The Merom Camp & Retreat Center (MCRC) consists of a 27+ acre campus located just outside the Town limits of Merom, Indiana, along the banks of the Wabash River. MCRC boasts a storied history, dating back to the mid-1800s and the construction of Union Christian College, now College Hall, a five-story brick building which is the heart of the campus. Surrounding College Hall are Hatten Hall, a 1919 brick building which is home to a chapel and gymnasium; Holt Hall, a 1939 concrete block mess hall and administrative building, built on the foundations of an earlier dormitory; as well as Whalen Retreat House, five cabins, various outbuildings, and two residences.
Working with our consultants, Lynch, Harrison & Brumleve (Structural Engineering), NEO Engineers (MEP Engineering), American Structurepoint (Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture), and MAPP3D Solutions (3D Laser Scanning), Revivalist is assessing the campus site and its three main buildings: College, Hatten, and Holt Halls. This in-depth assessment is intended to provide a detailed understanding of the current physical condition of the site and the three focus buildings, and offers recommendations for enhanced accessibility; improvements to structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; and ways to retain and restore historic character.
This project is generously funded through a grant from the Lilly Endowment, and additional assistance and expertise are being provided by Indiana Landmarks.
